Abstract

Objectives: The current research aims to uncover the environmental and psychological variables associated with the behavior of rational consumption for Egyptian women in relation to (water, energy, food, clothing) in light of the five major factors of personality.
The sample consisted of (100) Egyptian women divided into two groups. The first group consisted of (50) women of average social level and the second group of (50) women of low social level. Tools: included Scale of environmental variables, Scale of the behavior of rationalization of consumption for Egyptian women, Scale of the psychological case of women (Prepared by researcher) and List of five major factors of personality (Prepared by/ Bushra Ismail Ahmed, 2013). Results: there were differences in the rationalization of consumption between middle and lower level of women in terms of food and clothing, while there were no differences in water and energy. The results also indicated a correlation between rationalization of consumption and, some variables of the social environment for the head of household and the head of the family), the psychological case of women, and the five major factors among middle class women without the lower class women.
