Reviewing the research heritage on women's work in Saudi society A study of a sample of university theses for the Department of Sociology at King Saud and Imam Muhammad bin Saud Universities

Abstract

This study attempts to investigate the cognitive product of sociology in Saudi universities, particularly King Saud University and Al-Imam University, by analyzing the scientific discourse of a sample of master's and doctoral theses that dealt with the work of women in Saudi society, in order to determine the general framework of these studies. In four chapters, the researcher tried to provide a clear picture of knowledge production pertaining the subject of women's work in Saudi society.
This study is considered of the analytical exploratory studies, where the qualitative analysis method was used to provide description of the cognitive product in the Department of Sociology at Imam Mohammad Bin Saud Islamic University and King Saud University. The researcher analyzed the studies in the following parts: the conceptual framework (introduction, problem, questions, importance), the theoretical framework (study literature, interpreted theories) and the findings and recommendations of the study
The study concluded that community culture may affect the researcher's view towards the issue from the perspective of local community culture, and thus affect the study. The researcher also concluded that the knowledge product of the two universities may be influenced by the general interest of society and the general policy orientations of the state; Which comes in line with the trend of contemporary sociology of knowledge that indicates  knowledge is a cultural product that is influenced by the social and political context of society.
