Abstract

This research is an analysis of a poem recited by Al – Huddali, during the succession of Mu’awiyah ibn Abi Sufyan using the Pragmatic Approach. This poem was an appeal for aid, demanding from Mu’awiyah, the Caliphate to back them with military aids, to some forces which included Huddail in Land of the Romans. Exploring of both indicators, internal and external visions regarding the text recitation, paves the way, for the research to pinpoint separately between two types of targets concerning the Huddali’s Poetic Discourse. The First Type: Pragmatic, Functional/Beneficial Objectives, which deal with contacts, in the first place.  The other type: are Literary Pragmatic Objectives, which have to do with the emotional aspect, according to the feelings described in the message.
