Public diplomacy: A study in scientific heritage of the concept and the utilized communicative methods

Abstract

The development of international relations has led to the increase of burden on diplomacy as one of the key tools in the foreign policies of States. Diplomacy has been developed through ancient and medieval, Arab and Islamic, and modern times to cope with these ages and to perform the functions of pressure, persuasion, settlement and agreement through negotiation between States.
Public diplomacy emerged immediately after the Second World War to focus on direct contact between nations through activities fostered by governments and civil society organizations through which it transpierced through culture and media among nations through planned programs include the exchange of information, cultural and educational exchanges and TV commercials and printed ads, radio and television stations, magazines, cultural centers civil society organizations. However, The events of 11th of September 2001 has pushed forward the United States of America, and the public diplomacy has upgraded to head people's diplomatic scene to achieve the goals of American foreign policy as a key tool.
