Abstract

           This paper explores the poetry of the prince of Minorca, one of the Balearic Islands in Al Andulus. During the 7th Hijri century, the island witnessed great developments in all fields including literature. Saeed Bin Al-Hakam ruled the island from 630 to 680 Hijri following the downfall of the monotheists' nation. The king of Catalunya and Aragon was forced to pay tribute and sign a peace treaty with prince Saeed.
          Literary life flourished in Minorca during that period. Prince Saeed was a poet and a fancier of scientists and poets. He supported the scientists and poets who escaped following the downfall of Al Andalus. His palace was a salon for literature and poetry, which many Andalus poets visited. As a poet, prince Saeed wrote poems of such topics as love, eulogy, prophetic praise, pride and political criticism, among others. He used to befriend, praise and exchange poems with poets
