The Role of Electronic Social Networks in the Development of Political Awareness for Sultan Qaboos University students

Abstract

This paper aims to understand the real use of the social network with Sultan Qaboos University. And explores the effects of the social network on the political consciousness of the SQU’s students. To fulfill its goal, this research depends on the descriptive analytic  method.  By using the sample survey .
This research achieves several results. The most important are: the use of social networks have increased; in communication the  role of other network such as Google plus and Instagram are increased  beside the face book. Also there are differences in these networks in attracting the youth or the students related to the political consciousness. In addition, the results show the consciousness of the students towards the organization rules of the cadmic life has been increased, as well as towards the consciousness of election rules and system and the issues of civil society
