Abstract

The study aimed examines the phenomenon of the use of social media and its relationship to the rumors spread in the Omani society. The study focused on identifying the patterns of use of Omanis to new communication means, The disclosure of the most prevalent rumors in Omani society, The reasons leading to it, In addition to knowing its benefits, And discover on the relationship between the use of new media applications and the spread of rumors in the Omani society, To achieve the objectives of research, research use the descriptive and analytical method, Based on the quantitative method to measure the views of respondents about the phenomenon. The study started from perspective of dependent on the media means, Approach of uses and gratifications, and perspective of dissemination of information, and the theory of the spread of innovations. The research concluded that several scientific results, an important operational recommendations.
