Abstract

This research paper objectively and technically analyzes the famous b-rhymed poem of Shehab Al-Halabi. The importance of this poem stems from its documentation of the Crusades wars and the Mamluki struggle led by Sultan Al-Ashraf who freed the last bastions of the crusaders in the region.
The poem mainly portrays the war and glorifies the heroic works of Muslim soldiers. It draws a picture of a city fortified by men and weapons and the fierce resistance of the crusaders.
The paper seeks to analyze the poem literarily based on the critical atmosphere of the Mamluki age which adopted Al-badee’a as a poetic form, used a sophisticated metaphorical language and compared the poem and its literary and thematic content in the introduction, body and conclusion.
