The Effect of Economic Recession on Craftsmanship Industries in Damietta Governorate: Furniture Industry as a Model

Abstract

       The study is focused on monitoring the impact of the economic recession on the craft industries in Damietta, and specifically on the furniture industry. This holds the target with it targets sub-centered mostly around: determine the impact of the economic recession on the development of the furniture industry in Damietta, and try to detect the structural and functional changes in the industry, this, as well as to identify trends artisans about the situation of the industry in the face of rising rates economic recession. In this sense, the study identified the problem of the effect in a major question: What is the impact of the economic recession as one of the images of economic crisis faced by the sector, the economic pattern and structure of the craft industries in Damietta community? The field study was conducted in Damietta, was selected 12 geographic area (rural and urban), and in accordance with the standard density spread literal work among the population, and the total study sample (281) craftsman, was withdrawn manner quota of twelve geographic area within the centers and villages in the province Damietta, and reached total workshops withdrawn sample of the total area (102 workshop craft) with an average of between 8 to 9 workshops in each of the study areas, to include each share of selected shares most of the character problem for the furniture industry: carpenter furniture, and Alostorgi and Alakecrgi, and wood turner, and Almayorbati..elkh. The study concluded that there is a strong tendency prevails among the craftsmen confirms that the furniture industry in Damietta is in danger of collapse, and so out of a lack of economic and political context in support of the industry offers.
