Standards of Quality in University Education: A Case – Study from One of the Faculties of Beni-Suef University

Abstract

Objective of the Study
This study aims at defining the most prominent academic standards which play an important role in the process of qualification and accreditation in the institutions of the Higher Institutions. The objectives of the study are: recognizing the influence of the effective strategy on the quality of higher education, recognizing the influence of the leadership system on the quality of higher education, as well as the influence of the infrastructure, recognizing the influence of academic research on the quality of higher education, recognizing the influence of intellectual property rights on the quality of higher education, recognizing the influence of the impact of achieving job satisfaction on the quality of higher education, the impact of human resources development on the quality of higher education, identifying the impact of participating in the activities on the quality of higher education, finally identifying the impact of environmental and community participation on the quality of higher education.
Methodology:
The study is based on the case study method, through an in-depth study of the Faculty of Science in Beni-Suef University as the first overall winning quality accreditation college in the university, using case evidence; through in-depth interviews with some members of the administrative apparatus; and a sample of the teaching staff and their assistants members of the college, and the use of documents and records, and self-study of the Faculty.
Results of the study:
The study results reveal the existence of a set of academic standards; that helped the college to get a quality accreditation. These factors are represented in: effective strategy, and the role of the administrative system (leadership), the dominance of democratic climate in the college, which resulted in the achievement of job satisfaction for employees, and the development of infrastructure (efficient and convenient buildings, equipment and laboratories), and the development of scientific research and skills, and maintaining intellectual property rights, and human resources development, and encouragement participation in activities, and finally achieving community participation inside and outside the college, something which achieves the service of the society.
