Time is considered a very important component in the novel. It is the backbone which novel is based on. It is impossible to read story or novel bypassing the time element. It is the basic organizer for narrative operation. This work is concerned with the time element in the novel (Al-Tareek ela Al-Mashnaka). This research starts with an introduction including a biography of the writer literary career and a brief overview about time in Arabic literature. Chapter one studies the time arrangement related to past, present, and future, which includes (anticipation and recovery). Chapter two studies period which includes time acceleration (summary and deletion) and deceleration (scene and pause). I took in my research the structural approach based on analysis. Finally, the research presents the most important conclusions which include: - The novel was like a realistic novel given to an omniscient narrator who controls its events. He gave the -reader suspense, surprise, and waiting elements. - Time is considered a fundamental component in this novel. It is based on playing with times between past, present, and future which is clear through the anticipation and recovery techniques.
- The narrator highlighted the pivotal character; a rigid character moved by external forces. The character was overwhelmed with disability and weakness.
