Abstract

This study investigates the masculinity and femininity models in May Khaled’s “Gymnasium” through detecting their representation styles in the novel, for being considered two cornerstones in its structure. The study aims to reveal the connotations and denotations implied in the nature of the relationship between the two parts. Therefore, the researcher finds it important to refer to the theses of cultural criticism which consider the model an effective power in the literary production, since the literary text represents the cultural features which reveal what is beyond the aesthetics of the literary text. The conclusion of the study sums up its most important findings.
