Abstract

In Al-Hayawan, Al-Jahith draws how different nations and the Arabs nation shared the same structure of human civilization and culture. He shows us a great deal of their modes of governance and politics, and their culture and social habits of cooking and clothing. All these modes were viewed according to the spirit of an unbiased, eager scholar who believes in the importance of the accumulation of cultures and their role in constructing humanity, believing that the Arabs nation forms an important part of the achievements of humanity. Finally, Al-Jahith stresses the significance of preserving Arabic identity and being fair to other nations.
