Abstract

This study aims at investigating the levels of cognitive failure and brain dominance styles of high school students according to the gender and specification variables. The sample is represented in (600) sixth grade of high school students. The sample is selected from (12) high schools at Baghdad for the academic year 2016-2017. The researchers are used the cognitive failure scale of (Aldoory, 2012) and the brain dominance styles scale of (Torrance, 1977) as study tools. The results show that the students of study sample have cognitive failure and there are no statistically significant differences according to both gender and specification variables. They show also that the right brain style is the dominant one and there are no statistically significant differences according to the gender and specification variables. The result show that the students who characterize with whole brain dominance style are less likely to suffer from cognitive failure than the other styles (left and right). Accordingly, several recommendation and suggestions are set forward.
