Yemen in general and especially the south of Eden., had witnesse: serious urgent attempts since the thirties of the last century to try tns way of writing novels and stones, imitating what was the majority in the universal literatures as well as imitating what was spreading- abroa: from this art in the modern Arabic literature.
From the beginning of the Revival age (restoration age), they were their serious attempts which were not different from the other Arabic literature who absorbed in writing this new literary genre (at that timei wen if their attempts were simple (plain) as 'it had shown in Iraq b, Mahmood Ahmed Ai Sayd's works in 1 921.
As the art of narration in the modern Arabic literature was the legitimate son of the Arabic journalism, So (Fatat al-Jazeerahanewspaper which is proceeding in Eden- had played an important role in developing and rectifying the Yemenian writers' attempts towards making them closer to the artistic conditions in writing the short story crthe novel, this was just like the Egyptian or iraqian journalism for wha: they published from short stories even if they were not completing the artistic conditions, and also for what they published from semi-criticizing essays and especially to MahmoodTaymoor. All that flow in the course of looking at this art, examining it and taste it so as to practice it (writing & reading) by the Arabic society at that time.
From that point the Edenian newspaper (Fatat al Jazeerah) was the former in Yemen through its treatment and encouragement to this ar and also for its writing, reading and spreading abroad to what was produced from novels and historic stories with their events and characters to the best Yemenian writers in addition to what was done by (al- Hikmah, AI-Yemaniah) magazine in this course. So "MabnsK: Diary"(anovel proceeding from the.printings of (Fatat al-Jazeerah came as an affirmation to this important role which played by the Arab : journalism in developing and growing the artistic conditions of re Arabic work of narration.
As MahmoodHussainhaikal's story "zainab (1912)" had registers: the artistic beginning of the Egyptian story and as Mahmood Ahmed 5. Sayd's story 'Jalai Khalid" had registered the artistic beginning of re Iraqian story in 1928, after many attempts had done by ai-Sayd in r s field since 1921, So was the same to Arsalan's novel (MabrishtDia-/ (proceeded in Eden in 1984) for it signaled the artistic beginning cfr'e art of narration in the modern Yemenian literature.
