This paper discusses the concept of postmodernism and how western critics and Arab write about it. Also, this paper attempts to enumerate postmodern characteristics that are explained by some philosophers and critics. This paper aims to point out that the difficulty of the concept of postmodernism could be attributed to contradicted standpoint of critics. This contradiction affects how Arab critics understand and translate the concept of postmodernism. Therefore, this paper finds that some Arab critics combine between postmodernism and deconstructionism .
