The cynicism in Israeli political discourse - selected models (pragmatic study).

Abstract

The present research sheds light on sarcasm in the Israeli political discourse through pragmatic analysis whether of these in power or the opponents.
Political sarcasm is regarded an important rhetorical means adopted by the political leaders to express their attitudes and opinions on various interior and foreign affairs with its aim is to convey messages to the receivers in a sarcastic manner in order to impress them.
The present research discusses sarcasm and the difference between it and jock in general as the paper tackles the theories which have addressed this topic.

Throughout research and discussion the present paper has attended to the fact that adopting sarcasm, which is an important rhetorical means, in the political discourse leads to the performance of several functions most important of which are criticism, protestation and political denunciation whether in the interior directed discourse or the discourses related to the foreign affairs through the official speeches in the international events during the discussion of the important issues and handling struggle against the neighboring countries.
