THE COGNITIVE BELIEFS OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS TOWARDS THE ROLE OF WOMEN IN SOCIETY

Abstract

   The role of women in human societies can not be denied, wherever they may be, not only as a half of society, but as a genuine partner in building and enriching the human experience in all its aspects. The presence of women is also a historical challenge that has developed and developed in light of human experience, the emergence of countries and the spread of cultures.  However, this role is not effective and does not take its real space if the beliefs and cognitive structures of the individual and society as a whole are the opposite. And that they (ie women) are less efficient and full of men, That these beliefs of the individual (whether male or female) have an impact on the person and behavior of the influence of large and determines the roles in the community, whether in work or study or the family and even in the leadership and management of institutions and leadership centers.
   The aim of the present research is to survey the public opinion of the university's knowledge beliefs (males and females), which they hold towards the role of women in the society. In order to achieve the objective of the research, a questionnaire was distributed in which 300 students from BaghdadUniversity (Arts and Languages and Ibn Rushd Education) and the reality of (150) students and (150) students and apply the questionnaire to them.
   After conducting the statistical treatments of the answers and the reasons, the research found that the highest percentage of males and females and a higher percentage of females believe that women do not have equal and effective role as men in society and leadership, while the higher percentage of males and females believed that women have an equal and effective role with men. And in the family, the highest percentage of males believed that women had equal role for men, while females had the highest percentage that they did not believe that and the reasons were included from the students' point of view.

   In light of this, the researcher recommended the necessity of the role of women, especially women themselves through awareness and honor in the media and institutions and start from childhood and through the curriculum in schools and educational institutions, social and religious.
