Rapid Urbanization and its impact on the housing crisis in Iraq

Abstract

The Rapid Urbanization in the countries of the world especially developing countries, including Iraq, has led to the emergence of  several problems  as in economic problem , social problem , urban problem , environmental  problem and security  problem as well as the main problem, which is the housing crisis .Iraq has witnessed  rapid urban growth as a result of influx migration on the on hand and the high rates of natural increase on the hand. The population   increase in the number of urban residents and a decrease in the number of rural residents.
In 2003 Iraq was expose to the aggression by America and it's allies. This aggression led to deterioration the Political, economic and sectarian situations as well as the security chaos.  All that led to the abstention housing projects. And also, the lack of new basic designs for Iraqi cities., the absence of modern population census , as the last census is in (1997) all that led to the absence of new housing projects, whether through the distribution of land to citizens or the existence  of housing loans that serve citizens with limited income. All these circumstances  have led to the emergence of the housing problem and overtime , the problem has exacerbated ad  became a real  crisis with emergence  of  random housing residents in all governments of Iraq , especially Baghdad city, the capital of Iraq as well as overpopulation and high prices  of residential land  therefore  the trend began towards , agricultural land surrounding cities.
