Abstract:
This research examines the sources of poetic imagery in the poetry of Black
poets during the pre-Islamic and Islamic eras. It explores the meaning of artistic imagery and introduces some of the prominent Black poets of these periods. The study highlights the personal sources of inspiration for some of these poets, such as the harsh conditions they endured, tales of love, issues related to skin color, and the rejection they faced from their tribes. Some rebelled and embraced a life of wandering, while others proved themselves and were recognized as warriors within their tribes. The Black poets excelled in crafting imagery that reflected their personal experiences. The research also delves into the common sources shared with their contemporaries, such as the desert, historical events, wars, and nature. They created imagery that conveys the culture of their reality and the spirit of their era
