Abstract

This study casts to present a description for the concept of self and some of the studies that dealt with this concept and how it is constituted and the social organizations that contribute to the formation of self (such as family, school, peers, and mass media). Next, I tried to present this concept in light of globalization and the changes that occurred in societies around the world because of the new technologies of communication and their effects on the self. Furthermore, I used the Japanese experience as a successful model in improving the self, and drew upon some results that can be used in Kuwaiti society. Finally, the paper projected some scenarios that should be expressed to improve the Kuwaiti self.
