Abstract

The study focuses on the impact of the Islamic Revolution in Iran on Gulf-Iranian relations (1979-1981 AD) and monitors the dimensions of those effects on relations between Iran and the Gulf states and their broad effects on the region, and the fundamental and radical change this revolution represented in its policy, whether on the internal or external level. In the historical analysis of these dimensions, several main elements can be identified as causes of the conflict, namely the clash between Arab and Iranian nationalism, ideological differences, and apprehension of Iranian hegemony. When we review the development of these relations, we find that in the past they passed through various stages of rapprochement and divergence, and after the 1979 Islamic Revolution, relations took a new direction as Iran followed a path aimed at exporting the revolution.
