Abstract

The official Ottoman annuals are among the important sources of information about the Jenin District in the period of the Ottoman systematization1256-1336 AH/1839-1918 AD, through which it is possible to determine the conditions of the Jenin District in terms of its administrative dependency, the districts, and the villages affiliated with it.
​The importance of the records is notonly limited to administrative aspects , but also includes economic and social aspects, providing specific information about them. They state agricultural crops, their types, the quantity of their production, and the district’s revenues and expenditures. They also provide information about the district’s population, their categories and numbers, and contain information about schools and the numbers of students in the district.
