The role of rehabilitation institutions in Kuwait in preparing and rehabilitating people with mental disabilities

Abstract

Objectives: This research aims to evaluate the role of rehabilitation institutions in Kuwait in preparing and rehabilitating people with intellectual disabilities, and it aims to identify the rehabilitation programs provided in these institutions and analyze their effectiveness. Method: The quantitative methodology of research was followed as the most widespread methodology in the collection data in the humanistic social sciences. The sample size was (300 individuals) of parents of students with intellectual disabilities. The questionnaire was relied on as the main tool to collect data from the study sample, and the data was analyzed using the SPSS program. Results: The results showed that the majority of parents do not agree that the rehabilitation institution provides accredited certificates for their children after the end of the rehabilitation, and this indicates a significant deficiency in these institutions despite the government support provided to them to provide services contribute integrate into society after the end of the rehabilitation. The study also showed that the majority of parents do not agree that the rehabilitation institution provides its services in a manner supported by specialists from Kuwaiti Ministry of Health. Conclusion: the research recommended the need to pay attention to quality of programs provided by institutions and the need to keep pace with societal developments, in addition to providing qualified and specialized human resources necessary to provide high-quality rehabilitation services.
