Abstract

This paper aims at revealing the musical rhetoric in the apologetic poems of Al-NabighaAl-Thibyani and its relationship with his psychological state, particularly his sense of fear as threatened by King An-Nu'man. It seeks to clarify the impact of such musical rhetoric on the artistic structure of his poems on general recipients and onAn-Nu'man bin Al-Munther, in particular. This is to explore the long-standing assumption that links poetic meter to purpose and acknowledges the connection between musical composition and the poet's psychological state.A descriptive-analytical approach was adopted in this study by selecting and analyzing poetic evidence. The studycomprises an introduction, two sections, and a conclusion. The first section examines the external music of the apologetic poems, represented by meter and rhyme, while the second section explores the internal music and its elements. In conclusion, the study reveals the statement of the hypothesis, emphasizingAn-Nabigha’sinnate skill in shaping poetic melody. The study also indicates that his mastery is evident in utilizing the potential of selected metersand the appropriate rhyming in addition to his utilizing the energy emanating from the sounds of letters, words, phrases, and especially auditory images. This allowed him to express his concerns, transfer his fears, and present his voice appropriately to King An-Nu'man. These voices added a rhythmic and emotionally impactful melodic energy, compelling An-Nu'man to accept Al-Nabigha’s apology granting him forgiveness.
