Political relations between the first Saudi state & Oman (1210-1233 AH/ 1795-1818 AD

Abstract

The relations of the first Saudi state and Oman (1210-1233 AH / 1795-1818 AD) are considered among the most important regional relations that cast a shadow on the political, economic, religious conditions in the Arabian Gulf region. It had geopolitical and demographic dimensions on the foreign relations of the Saudi state, as relations of the Saudi state were with the Omani tribes, as an expression of a new regional situation sponsored by the Saudi state, Oman was an activation of its pioneering role. The imams & princes of the Saudi state had a political and religious presence on Omani lands, which supported the new regional status of the Arabian Gulf region.
The relationship of the Saudi state with Oman revealed the extent of the internal tension occurring in Oman. Those who support the Saudi state, demanding that it enter their country. We welcome the Saudi Salafist, and pledge to pay zakat to the Saudi state. Those who opposed the Saudi presence and tried to seek help from the British Empire. To obstruct the intervention of the Saudi state in Omani lands, and made it clear that it was only a step to seize the entire Gulf, but the British side did not stand with this side, as it liked the emergence of a political entity that it could deal with, instead of the discordant tribes. Perhaps these are the most fundamental changes that have brought about Saudi-Omani relations, which have Made radical changes in all regional situations on all aspects.
