Abstract

The craft of pearl fishing and trading formed the mainstay of the economy of the inhabitants of the Arabian Gulf and the most prominent profession in that region in the period before the emergence of oil. It was the economic landmark and the cultural and social identity of the region, so the Gulf page was filled with pearl fishing fleets, and the people of the Arabian Gulf gave the period before the emergence of oil the term The Pearl Age, which gives us an indication of the importance of pearls as the lifeblood of the inhabitants of the Arabian Gulf region
Pearl fishing and its trade formed the backbone of the Gulf economy in the pre-oil phase, and was even one of the aspects of its cultural and societal identity, and before that the economic one. Consequently, the Gulf pearl-producing societies opened up to the countries of the world and practiced a social and economic situation that guaranteed them an economic income in addition to what can be described as the interaction of the Gulf person with his environment as well. About his passion and relationship with the sea, as his relationship with pearl fishing and production constitutes an exceptional case in the history of the modern Arab world
