Abstract

‏The aim of this research is to examine the image of women in the works of the novelist Laila Al-Atrash, through: a group of novels: The Woman of the Five Seasons, Two Nights and the Shadow of a Woman، And the harbors of illusion, and a novel, and it shines westward . The research depends on the descriptive and analytical approach, by tracking the female characters in these novels, analyzing them, and discovering their connotations in the literary texts read.
The results of the research showed that the novelist Laila Al-Atrash evokes together a group of feminist models in society to form the characters of a number of her novels. We find that she varied among those models between the educated woman, the rebellious woman, the submissive woman, and the struggling woman, but what is noticeable about the group of these models is that they were mostly models. The antagonism between men and women appears, and in some of them features a call for women’s liberation from the restrictions of society that violated their rights, and clearly shows the defects of the patriarchal society that undermines women’s rights and violates equality between them and men.
