Abstract

In this research we highlighted an important phenomenon of the Arabic language, which is semantics abbreviation, that represents one of the two parts of linguistic abbreviation, and was conducted in a new form that is different from previous; it has been looked upon the semantics abbreviation with a limited look as being linguistic abbreviation and verbal expansion and this is a limited view for linguistic abbreviation, semantics abbreviation and verbal expansion have been overlooked which have abbreviation importance no less than the linguistic abbreviation. If the linguistic abbreviation importance is in using linguistic means shortly ,semantics abbreviation importance is in choosing more accurate and convenient linguistic means.
The existence of semantics abbreviation in different linguistic levels is an evidence of legitimacy of this trend in studying, we have dealt with it from point of view of structure and composition: diminution(model),it is clear that diminution is semantics abbreviation and verbal expansion; because the form of diminution has got increase in its derivational origins, it is not verbal abbreviation but it is meant verbal increase for the purpose of meaning decrees; Therefore the abbreviation side for diminution is increase in the structure to lessen the meaning, and by this it is considered to be semantic abbreviation.
We have dealt with semantic abbreviation as composition at details, if the two were similar in meaning but different in pronunciation in the same text, that means the speaker wanted to attract the listener’s attention to the importance of the article. But if both structures are in different texts to a speaker ,this is to make the listener’s mind think by linking information of both structures that leads to inference and conclusion.
Furthermore, this research concentrated on the ability to deal with the idea of abbreviation in semantic structure between the two, the first is a text from Nahij Al Balagha and the other text is from the Holy Quran and this is open for researchers to get results that leads to the pathway in the performance of the meaning to the perfect Islamic message.
