Youth awareness of electronic crimes and legal protection for social media users. A field study

The current research attempts to identify young people’s awareness of cybercrimes and legal protection for social media users, and monitor the factors that lead to committing cybercrimes. And the vision of university youth about the laws against cybercrime, The study relied on the theory of the public sphere to explain the study issue. The survey method is considered one of the methodological methods of social analysis, and the study tool is the research form The study was conducted on students of the Higher Institute of Social Service in Benha. The study was conducted in the period from January 2023 until May 15, 2023. The study sample consisted of 240 items that were drawn in a systematic, random manner from the students’ transcripts The study reached several results, including: There are many social factors that lead to committing cybercrimes, and they are: the ease of escaping and disappearing from the security authorities, the ease of committing cybercrimes, weak family control, and the weak role of the family in proper upbringing Youth perceptions about anti-cybercrime laws varied and included: Preparation and role of the police to combat cybercrimes, and awareness of laws protecting against cybercrimes.
