The Role of the Activities of the Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs in Countering Extremism and Terrorism From The Point of View of Young People in Jordanian Youth Centers

Abstract

The main objective of the study was to reveal the role of the activities of the Ministry of political and Parliamentary Affairs in countering extremism and terrorism, and to reveal the nature of the activities carried out by the ministry to counter extremism and terrorism and the obstacles it faces. The study relied on the descriptive analytical approach using the sample social survey method to achieve its objectives, and using the questionnaire tool that was applied to the study sample consisting of (720) young people who were randomly tested from youth centers in Jordanian governorates.
The results showed that the overall level of the role of the ministry's activities to counter extremism and terrorism from the point of view of youth deployed to youth centers came high, with an average calculation (3.754), and it became clear from the results that one of the most important activities carried out by the ministry to counter extremism and terrorism is the organization and holding of national celebrations, and the implementation of awareness campaigns on the danger of extremism and terrorism. Based on the results of the study, a number of recommendations were proposed, the most important of which are: directing the efforts of the Ministry of political and Parliamentary Affairs in raising awareness towards promoting national values, pluralism and mutual respect, encouraging young people to think critically and strengthening national identity and belonging among young people.
