Reliance of Yemeni Youth on the Arabic News Channels as Sources

Abstract

The research aims at recognizing the extent of Yemeni youth's concern with the current military and political events in Yemen and the degree of their reliance on the Arabic news channels as sources to access the information about the recent Yemeni events as well as recognizing the cognitive, sentimental and behavioral influences resulting from this dependence. The research was based onthe media survey methodology, wherea generalist (intentional) sample of Yemeni university youths consisted of (400) students ( male and female) in six Yemeni universities (public and private) was surveyed.
The research data were gathered by using an investigation paper assessed and reviewed by a host of university professors. The results of research revealed the high concern of Yemeni youth with current events in Yemen and their high level of information regarding the events and the developments of such events. The results also exposed the supremacy of Al Arabia Channel-Al Hadath- on Al Jazeera and Al Maydin channels regarding the dependence of respondents on it as a source of information about the current Yemeni events.
The findings illustrated that there wasa positive and directcorrelation between the reliance of respondents on the Arabic News channel (study sample) as sources to access the information about Yemeni events and the cognitive, sentimental, and behavioral influences caused by this reliance
