Testing The Theory of Subcultures in Explaining the Violence Against Medical Personnel in The Health Sector in The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

Abstract

The main objective of the study was to test the theory of subcultures in explaining violence against health personnel in Jordanian society, to determine the impact of subcultures on committing violence against medical personnel working in health care service centers, to identify the extent to which violence behavior is related to the subcultural characteristics of health care providers, and to reveal the most important patterns of violence associated with the subculture of violence in Jordanian society from the point of view of patients, escorts and visitors.
To achieve its objectives, the study used the descriptive analytical method using the sample social survey method, and the use of the questionnaire tool that was applied to the study sample consisting of (1085) patients, accompanying persons and visitors to the government health care service centers of the Jordanian Ministry of Health. The study was used to analyze data the descriptive and analytical statistical methods.
The results of the study confirmed and supported the assumptions of the theory of subculture of committing violence against medical personnel working in health care service centers in the Jordanian society. The results of the study showed that the level of subculture's influence on committing violence against medical personnel came at an average level. Also the results showed that the level of correlation of the subculture of violent behavior in society with the characteristics of health care service providers came at an average level, and it became clear from the results that the overall level of correlation of the prevailing patterns of violence against medical personnel with the subculture of violence in society came at an average level from the point of view of reviewers, patients, escorts and visitors.
Based on the results of the study, a number of recommendations were proposed aimed at reducing the pro-violence community culture against medical personnel in the Centers of providing medical care services by activating the community tendency rejecting violence in society and considering it as a counterculture to the values and culture of Jordanian society.
