Abstract

This research deals with the biographies and biographies of the Ottoman sultans through one of the books of biographies and biographies written during the thirteenth century AH، the nineteenth century AD، which is the book “Al-Badr at-tali’ with its virtues after the seventh century” by Imam Muhammad bin Ali Al-Shawkani (d. 1250 AH / 1834 AD)، and the author of this book is considered one of the Senior Yemeni scholars and historians of his time، who testified to his knowledge and objectivity، and his fame exceeded Yemen، in addition to his proximity to the ruling authority in Yemen.
This research focuses on the importance of biographies and biographies as an important source of Ottoman history and biographies of the sultans، no less important than other sources such as annals، biographies of kings، and documents. Its perspectives، which calls for the researcher to search carefully in these books.
Al-Shawkani dealt with the life of the Ottoman sultans through the written and oral sources available to him، following the methodology of his predecessors، such as Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani and Al-Sakhawi. A country that had a bad relationship with the Ottoman Empire and gained its independence from it after a bloody conflict that lasted for more than half a century، not to mention the geographical distance between Yemen and the center of the Ottoman Empire "Istanbul"
