Abstract

In the beginning of 2011 there were waves of political instability until the outbreak of the revolution of 25 January. The Egyptians asked to ensure the participation of all to achieve democracy and to draw their future. The aim of the present study is to investigate the reflections of social transformations after the events of 25 January and their reflections on the awareness of Egyptian youth about democracy through a descriptive study based on the critical ethnographic approach. A descriptive study relied on the sampling method through the questionnaire tool for the youth of the University of Alexandria, and a sample interview guide from young people of Alexandria University. The study concentrated on the communication and awareness because of their importance. The most important conclusion of the study is that most of the sample members are aware of democracy However, every individual was clearly influenced by his/her social and cultural background. Most young people depended on the Internet to express their views to show that the future of democracy in Egypt depends on forwarding the interests of the country and empowering young people to practice political work and gain communication skills and accept others
