Interactive Social Media and Virtual Mobilization for Revolutionary Action An Analytical Sociological Study from The Point of View of a Sample of Journalists

Abstract

The study aims to identify the role of the interactive social media in the revolutionary transformation and popular movement of the 25 January Revolution in Egypt through the process of virtual mobilization, which resulted in the successful overthrow of the Mubarak regime. This is demonstrated through in-depth interviews with a sample of journalists (national, party and independent newspapers) in their capacity as observers of the event on a daily basis in the field of traditional and new media in the cyberspace. Hence, it was possible for them to record, analyze and provide the social visions of the role of these media in the Egyptian revolution
