Employing Kuwaiti government institutions' websites for the principles of dialogic communication in building the relationship with the public

Abstract

The study aimed at monitoring and evaluating the dialogue and interactive capabilities of the websites of Kuwaiti governmental institutions, by analyzing the level of their employment of the principles of dialogic communication in building public –institutions relationship. The study relied on the descriptive approach using a content analysis tool in collecting and analyzing data from 40 websites of Kuwaiti institutions selected from the official online portal of the State of Kuwait. The study reached a number of results, the most important of which are:

Images of institutional leaders came first among the types of images published by Kuwaiti government institutions ’websites, followed by images of activities and events, on the other hand as, images of audiences came last.
The principle of Ease of interface came first among the principles of communication that are most employed on the websites of Kuwaiti government institutions, followed by the principle of the quality of information, then the principle of Conservation numbers of visitors, the principle of return visits, and finally the principle of the active dialogue.
Kuwaiti government institutions adopted a one-way approach in communicating with their audiences through websites, as the results confirmed. The existence of statistically significant differences between the degree of practicing technical principles and dialogue principles via the studied websites, and the differences came in favor of technical principles related to website design and information dissemination.
