The cognitive development of the educational and cultural reality in the Abbasid era - the regular school and the Mustansiriya school as a model

Abstract

The Abbasid era was marked by the emergence of schools and their spread in large cities, and senior scholars assumed the task of teaching in them. Schools became independent, separated from mosques, and had private buildings with distinctive engineering architecture in the Islamic style. The Abbasid state also allocated material resources to them to secure the salaries of teachers, students, and other study requirements.
Schools in the Abbasid era played a major role in revitalizing the educational and cultural movement and encouraged the translation of books of other nations into Arabic,And it contributed to activating relations between parts of the Islamic world, as students of knowledge flocked to it from all Islamic countries.
The curricula in the Abbasid schools were not limited to religious sciences only, but also included other natural, industrial and artistic sciences as well. Among the most famous of these schools are: The Nizamiyya School and the Al-Mustansiriya School.
