Abstract

The paper discusses the vertical accuracy of the digital elevation models on the western side of the Gulf of Suez, in order to ensure the accuracy and evaluation of the data in all scientific studies, whether analytical, experimental or monetary. Knowledge of surface levels is the basis for the planning and evaluation of urban communities and economic activities. This paper deals with five digital elevation models that can be downloaded from the Internet, show their different spatial accuracy and indicate vertical accuracy. Comparing them to the elevation points on the topographic maps at times and between each other. by applying a model that includes GIS, remote sensing and statistics. Which lead to several results as the variation of the digital elevation model’s vertical accuracy with different elevations and identify the most appropriate digital elevation models for each category of elevation.
