Religious movements during the Islamic period in the Punjab provin

Abstract

There were several religious movements in the Punjab provin, some of which were Hinduism such as the Bhagati movement, some of which were Sikhism such as the Sikh movement, and both resulting of the influence of Islamic teachings as a result of their connection with Muslims. These movements were an attempt to unify similar religious ideas in different sects, specially Hinduism and Islam, to choose a number of ideas from each faith and to combine them all into one.
Although Bhagati's movement was initially a movement opposed to Islam, it deviated from the basic line and turned to reconciliation with Islam. After this movement, the Sikh movement that was established by "Nank" as Punjab is the land of historic Sikh,Sikhism is the last great religion that was born in the land of India. Sikhism sought to form a separate religion away from Islam and Hinduism, it was therefore the nucleus of the creation of a religious political group that played a major role in the Punjab, until Guband that was a Sikh entity and emerged as an independent nation with a military approach. Thus, it turned from a peaceful sect into a fiercely hostile sect of Hindus and Muslims. As a result of the persecution of the Sikhs by Muslims, Ahmed Sayyid Barilawi took the Jihad movement to get rid of the Sikhs' control, and the Jihad against the British. However, the Mujahideen were defeated in this war in 1831 in Balaku, and Sayyid Ahmed Barilwa, Shah Ismail and countless friends were killed.
Thus the Punjab's was share in the emergence of a multitude of religious movements on its land, which made her unique history and rich in different events and developments in the land of Punjab.
