History of Excavation, Investigation and Preservation of Khurasan Gate at Eastern Baghdad Wall 1938-2014

Abstract

It is one of the gates of eastern Baghdad wall, work started at the gate of Khurasan in the era of Abbasid Caliph Al-Mustansir bi-Allah (487-512 AH/1118-1094 AD) .This military and architectural edifice only completed in the succession of his son ,Caliph Al- Mustarshid bi-Allah 517 AH)) .The tower has a cylindrical shape, it was built by using bricks and plaster as a binder material. The wall has four gates as the following: Sultan gate, Khurasan gate, Al -Helba gate, and Al-Basaliya gate, Where there is none left of those gates except the Khurasan gate, for reasons we have been mentioned in this research .There were several works of excavation, investigation and preservation carried out at Khurasan gate from 1938 to 2014, that we have dealt with them in the research successively. The most important thing about these works ,that they were in sync with each other .The research contains an introduction ,four research demands, conclusion and offprint in English. Success from God
