Self - medication with the students of the University of the New Valley - a field study on a sample of university students

Abstract

The study deals with self-medication among university youth in the new valley, aiming to increase the self-medication spread among the university youth in the new valley to find out the concept and causes of its spread, the most prevalent diseases, medicines and herbs to be addressed, its benefits and its damage. The research consists of (100) students. The new method was chosen in random way, and the researcher looked at the method and described it as the main tool to collect information and data.
The most important diseases in the valley are treated with self-medication among university students  are : diseases of the digestive system, heart and blood, respiratory system, nose and ear, eyes, nervous system, malnutrition, infection and epidemiology, osteoporosis and chronic diseases such as diabetes, kidney failure and cancer and liver diseases .The most important reasons for the spread of self-medication are: The doctors in the valley are not able to treat diseases and they aren’t  experienced. They also lack knowledge of drugs and experience of previous disease and treatment. This is  In addition to the sudden illness and the need for self-medication. In addition to the pharmacy, There is an availability of medicine without medical treatment, and finally the inability to pay for doctors.
The most self-medicating drugs are: Antihypertensives, analgesics, herbal medicines, antibiotics, cough medicines, antacids, antiperspirants, eye drops, vitamins and supplements, skin whitening creams, antihypertensive drugs. The most important risks of self-medication are: delayed diagnosis of diseases, increased side effects, unintentional and intentional poisoning, risk of life, increased disease, obstruction of treatment, and increased bacterial resistance.
