Abstract

This research aims at exploring Deviation in the poetry of Ibn Abdoun as it represents a stylistic tool contributing to the poet's language, phrases, imagery and to the personification of his vision and convening his feelings to the reader.
The study consists of an introduction and two parts:
-  The theoretical background: it tackles the definition of Deviation as formulated by some Arab and western critics, showing its connection to other related Arab concepts in the field of rhetoric.
- The procedural part: it explores Patterns of Deviation in Ibn Abdoun's poetry that has great influence on the text's language, phrases and artistic images.
The study concludes that Ibn Abdoun has paid great attention to his language, represented in using several patterns of supportive, semiotic as well as structural forms of Deviation.
