Abstract

This research is aimed at analyzing the Saudi writer Ibrahim Al-Humaidan’s titles as used in his story collection. This analysis study is considered an important research addition to the field of title analysis for prose-based literary texts.
The research sheds light on the definition of title, its types and functions, how to choose a title, and how a title relates to a text.
The research tackles various topics representing its main structure, including the title which have been discussed in terms of structure, formulation, significance, revival and development. The research also explores conventional and unconventional uses of titles, the connection between the title and the text, and the heritage manifestation in the title. Finally, the study tackles the nature of the title as well as its functions and aesthetic values in Ibrahim Al-Humaidan’s works.
