The Academic and Awareness Role of Jordanian Public Universities in Cyber Security from Faculty Staff Perspective

Abstract

The study aimed to reveal the academic and the awareness roles of the public Jordanian universities on Cyber Security perceived by the Faculty Staff. It employed the descriptive and analytical method in collecting and analyzing primary data to answer the study questions. The study was conducted by a sample of the faculty members, who are employed at the Jordanian public universities, which included (418) respondents. The study concluded that information security is based on three main axes that ensure the availability of information security in universities. The results also indicated that the academic roles of universities in introducing the concept of electronic information security are often through academic programs and courses offered by universities. As for the educational roles, they focused on the rational and technical perspective and their role in raising awareness of electronic information security along with the risks associated with cyberspace and the propagation of diverse threats.
