Abstract

From the study, it is clear that foreign trips in the Arab Peninsula with all their kinds achieve numerous goals, among which is presenting historical, geographical and human information about the visited areas.
Lewis Pelly journey was an example of those trips. The British politicians once lived in the Arab Gulf in Bushehr city had written a comprehensive and important report about his trip that went from Kuwait to Riyad then Al-Hofuf city in Al-Ahsa region.
Since the beginning of the trip in February, 1865, Pelly went on writing down all of what he notices on the way. He had given an accurate account to the terrains he passed in addition to a precise description to the cities he visited and a record to the names of the tribes he dealt with.
To us, Lewis Pelly trip looked to have achieved an intelligent, economic, military and political cooperation between the British government in India and the second Saudi state (1891-1824). Upon arriving in Riad city on March, 5th, 1865, Lewis Pelly held three official meetings with the ruler of the 2nd Saudi state, Al-Imam Faisal bin Turki Al Saud and discussed issues of mutual interest.
This shows how that Lewis Pelly report about his trip is considered to be an important historical source to the Arab Peninsula.
