Abstract

Themartyr gained a high position in the Islamic religion, and this was directly reflected on the Arabic heritage as a whole, in that poets and authors wrote poems and novels about the virtues of martyrs and martyrdom for the sake of Allah. They conceptualized martyrs in the most beautiful images stemming from the strong belief about their high position for Allah as well as his considerable position in Islam and community as well.
Accordingly, the current study aimed at investigating the image of the martyr as introduced by the poets of the time period that extended between the first and second world wars using the technical study as well as demonstrating the features of aesthetic creativity among those poets within three manifestations: technical image, contextuality, music and rhyme.
The research concluded with a number of results, including that the poets observed the Islamic features in shaping that image and paid attention to the Quranic texts in establishing the poetic contextuality, in addition to being interested in the suitable choice of rhymes.
