Abstract

This study aimed at the role of social media in building relationships outside the institution of marriage and their impact on the rise in divorce rates in the Jordanian society, and to achieve the objectives of the study, the methodology of the social sample survey was relied on, and the questionnaire tool was used to collect data from the target study sample. From (2988) a head and a head of household, by the cluster method of families from the Jordanian governorates by two governorates from each region of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to analyze the data, and the study reached conclusions, the most important of which are: The role of social media The high divorce rates were high, and that there are social relationships adopted by social media outside the institution of marriage to a high degree, and that the social effects of the relationships that lead to divorce on social media sites outside the institution of marriage were high, and that there was a disparity in the answers of the study sample about the most types of social media. Popular in attracting relationships, as it was found that one of the most popular of these means is Facebook, at a rate of (85.96%)..
The study concluded with a set of recommendations, the most important of which were: Increasing family awareness of marital life through the same social media sites and the media, presenting series that attract families of a cultural nature, away from an atmosphere in which values conflict and contradictory practices, or a repulsive atmosphere characterized by frustration, conflict and complexity.
