Radical discourse and the problems of violence on the campus A field study on Fayoum University students

Abstract

The recent study examined the phenomenon of extremism and violent behavior, for students on campus in terms of its patterns, causes and consequences, and the factors influencing the spread of this phenomenon in The Egyptian society in general and in Egyptian universities in a more specific way.  In an attempt to identify the obstacles that prevent the spread of this intellectual pattern, The main question for this study ask: What are the visions of university students to think about extremism and the behavior of violence in terms of its forms, causes, effects and ways to eliminate it?.

This is study based on the analytical descriptive method. It is considered one of the most appropriate curricula that fit the entrance of the visions of the world. In addition, the questionnaire was applied to 500 students from Fayoum University from a sample of students. October  2015 with 500 questionnaire forms for both theoretical and practical colleges. The most important results of the study was the rejection of all forms of extremism and violence on campus and its various forms, starting with verbal quarrels and extremism in the language of dialogue and quarrels and harassment and acts of vandalism and violence against the self. The results also indicate that social and economic conditions are not a cause of extremism and violence on campus. One of the most important results is that the political reasons play a major role in the misunderstanding of some issues related to domestic and foreign policy, leading to extremism and violence.
