Autism between different cultures and religious beliefs

Abstract

Studies on autism spectrum disorder proved pivotal impact on the family. There are studies, although few have discussed autism from the perspective of culture and religion. Studies have shown that belief is a personal coping source used by the parents of children and adults with disabilities. And cultures have also role in shaping the family, specialists and community understanding of the developmental disabilities. In addition, its effect on the relationship between parents and professionals. Therefore, It is necessary in our society in the Arab public and local, particularly the specialists in the field of autism to take into consideration the various of cultural background of the families that are dealing with, and respect the parents' needs and desires regarding their child and not laugh at their background because it may close channels of communication between them. So the professionals need to understand and respect the vision of families of children with autism, and work towards mutually accept treatments.
